Money, Freedom, Prosperity, Wealth, these are all things we desire to have, but why are these things so elusive?

Love or Hate?

Lets start off with an analogy, making money online is like dating. You go on a date and from the outside things look good, things sound good, things smell good, but for some reason you just don’t connect with that person. The same thing applies here, the idea and sound of making online income sounds good, but when you get into it you just don’t like it, and this is OK.

On the other hand it may be love at first sight, you don’t know until you go on that first date. I want to introduce you to online income.

 

Do You Like What You Do?

A lot of being successful revolves around liking what you do, a lot of people who start in this business become successful because they start with what they like to do.

My wife loves to shop, she likes me to go with her and I do it to please her, but I HATE shopping. I find a couch in the mall, out of the way, and wait. She goes from rack to rack comparing sizes and prices while I’m on the couch doing nothing. What’s interesting with this story is after three hours of shopping she is energized and excited, on the other hand I am exhausted from siting on the couch and doing nothing. Why? Because she is doing what she likes to do and I am hating every minute of it. Now, I could discuss this business or health remedies all day long, do you see how self-interest plays such a big role in your success?

True or False?

Let’s go over the questions you have. Some of the answers I give may rub people the wrong way, but if it saves you from wasting your time and money then so be it. I have been in the business a little over a year, but I have been “Seriously” doing it for six months now. There is a big difference between Doing It and Seriously Doing It, I will talk about this later.

Anyone Can Make Money Online?

False, anyone cannot make money online and the reason is interest. You could show me someone who makes a million dollars selling pencils, and if I just don’t like selling pencils I won’t make a dime at it. The same applies here, a person may just not like the internet business and won’t stick with it, it’s as simple as that.

Getting Into an Online Business is Cheap?

True, technology and competition has made starting an online business very, very cheap.

You Need to be a Computer Wiz?

False, technology has made building a website and some of the other aspects you need to learn quite easy.

You Can Make a Lot of Money Online Fast?

False, those days are gone. If you remember the stock market days where anything that had a dot com attached to it went up 400 percent overnight, well, there was a time when the internet had the same mindset. Let me step on a few toes here, there are a few good courses where they teach you the How’s and Why’s, but they leave out the Competition factor. Folks, if it were still cheap and easy to make online income wouldn’t you think millions of people would be making thousands of dollars each month doing it?

There are people entering this business with a nice chunk of upfront money who have a big edge on us, the ones that don’t have a lot of seed money and have to do everything ourselves. This is a big competitive advantage for those coming in with money to start. This is something a lot of courses leave out of their sales pitch. This doesn’t mean that you can’t make a really, really nice long term online income for yourself, this only means it will take you a lot longer and it will take more of your time to accomplish it. Now, is it worth it? You’re damn right it is, if you like what you see with this business , then this is worth every minute you put into it.

Reviewing the Competition

I’m going to do a brief review of people I know about in the business.

Trent Drysmid – Trent is fairly new to the business, he focuses on adsense sites. Trent may be new to this business, but he is not new to business. He runs the onlineincomelab.com, Trent sold an IT buisness for over a million dollars. He likes to teach, he is a good teacher and he has his own unique system in place for mass producing adsense sites. Trent seems to have come in with a nice bankroll to invest in his internet business.

Chris Farrell – Chris was a radio host is the UK before he moved to Beverly Hills. This tells you that Chris came into this business too with a nice sized bankroll. Chris has a membership site which is called chrisfarrellmemebership.com. Chris is considered a premier teacher in social marketing and email marketing.  Chris makes upwards of $60,000.00 a month, I’m not exploiting anything here he states this in many of his articles. Chris is a very good teacher and is a likeable personality.

Pat Flynn – Pat runs the smartpassiveincome.com site. Pat shares a lot of information about various tools and techniques and how to use them. Pat makes the majority of his income from affiliate sales on his site. Pat has exploded on the scene and has a monthly income report that he publishes each month on his site. Pat hits the $40,000.00 mark quite often selling mostly other peoples products. Pat has a site – securityguardtraininghq.com – which makes over $2,000.00 a month in passive adsense income. He spent a few thousand dollars getting content written for it and who knows how much more to get it ranked on top in the search engines. This is still a good investment after expenses.  Pat is another popular personality in the online income circles.

OK, why do I tell you this? I want you to know the reality of what the competition is like if you do not have the bankroll to compete with the people mentioned above. You will come across programs that promote the kind of success you see above, but they leave out the fact that our competitors above can move at a quicker pace because they have the funds to outsource and do things quicker. This in no way should discourage you from moving forward, this should encourage you knowing it works, you will just get there at a different pace.

Odds and Ends

To make money, on or offline, you have to sell something. It is either information, products, or services. There are a variety of business models to make money online with, like I mentioned above I suggest you start with something you like.

Remember I mentioned the words Doing It and Seriously Doing It? What I did at the start was just doing it, I thought I was really doing it, but I was just tinkering with it. And I thought this would make me a lot of money online, well, it didn’t.

Here’s the truth, to Seriously Do It you will need to spend a little money to start, not a lot, but some. You need to be realistic about how long it will take you and how much you will make. This is if you do not have a lot of money to start with.

Learning the Trade

There is a ton of free information scattered all over the internet. Go to Pat or Trents site, you will find a lot of information, but it could take months or even years to put the puzzle together.

Here’s a tip, no charge – find someone you trust and like. Some people will like my straight forward style and others will hate it, that’s what makes the world go round. You will learn much faster if you like the way someone teaches. Leo, an experienced internet guy, told me once “I know Frank Kern rehashes a lot of the same old stuff over and over again, but I like they guy”.  So you see, learning has a lot to do with liking the teacher, look for someone you like and trust. The guys mentioned above have these qualities.

Lets put it this way, there are 10 houses on your block, everyone points to your house because it is the coolest.
